What is a designated organization and how do l get their support?
Designated organizations are business groups, venture capital funds, and angel investor groups that can support your business idea. You must convince one of these organizations to provide a Letter of Support for your application.
What are the key requirements for a qualifying business in Canada?
Your business must be innovative, have the potential to grow, and create jobs for Canadian residents. You must own at least 10% of the voting rights in the business and no other applicant can hold more than 50% of the voting rights.
Do I need to invest a specific amount in my startup?
There is no minimum investment required to establish a business in Canada. But it is advisable to secure sufficient funding to operate your business effectively.
Who will assess my application for the Start-up Visa (SUV) Program?
Initially, the designated organization you approach for support will assess the feasibility of your business proposal. Subsequently, the Department of Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will evaluate your immigration application to confirm that you have obtained the required support and meet the eligibility criteria for permanent residency. In specific instances, your application may undergo an independent peer review procedure. This peer review ensures that both your activities and those of the designated organization align with industry standards.
